1. Who we are
FamilyBrain is operated by Agnes Kanchana Ström, sole proprietor registered in Sweden ("we", "us"). We act as the data controller for personal data processed through the Service.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: name, email, password hash, login provider.
- Family & content data: events, tasks, documents, notes and knowledge you save.
- Support messages you send us.
- Usage & device data: IP address, browser/device identifiers, log data, basic analytics.
3. Why we use it & legal basis
- To provide the Service and your account — performance of a contract.
- To secure the Service and prevent fraud/abuse — legitimate interests.
- To improve the product and fix bugs — legitimate interests.
- To provide customer support — performance of a contract.
- To comply with legal obligations — legal obligation.
4. Sharing
We share personal data only with:
- Subprocessors providing hosting, database, authentication and analytics infrastructure.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities where required by law.
5. International transfers
Some subprocessors are located outside the EU/EEA. Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses as safeguards.
6. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account your content is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements (e.g. accounting).
7. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, port your data, object, and withdraw consent. You can contact us via the app to exercise these rights; we respond within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish data protection authority (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).
8. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and audit logging — to protect your data.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies required for authentication and to remember your preferences. We may use limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
